ICEF Agent Quality

At ICEF we are concerned about agent quality. For this reason we pride ourselves on having the strictest, most comprehensive and diligent agent quality controls. Developed during ICEF’s 20+ years in the industry, our screening process takes into consideration the specific needs of different types of educators and the agent’s ability to meet these as part of an extensive process.

ICEF has the industry’s largest agent department. The ICEF Agent Team is made up of fifteen full-time Agent Relations Managers (ARMs), supported by part-time staff, whose focus is the recruitment of quality agents. Each agent application is carefully reviewed and verified and references are personally checked. Our ARMs are experts in their specific markets and know which agents best serve key educational sectors.

Once an agency is accepted, they are regularly reviewed and their conduct/performance during, and after participation in an ICEF event is also monitored. We hold our agents to the highest standard at all times and maintain an unpublished blacklist of those who do not meet our standards of professionalism.

You can find more information on the key ways we ensure agent quality on the following sub-pages:

ICEF Agent Status

Once an agency has passed our screening process, they are awarded ICEF Agent Status (IAS), which is an indicator of agent quality. Each IAS agency is assigned a unique identifying number and a logo which they may use on their marketing materials.

ICEF Agent Training Course (IATC)

The ICEF Agent Training Course is a practical professional course that tests an agent's knowledge of the industry, key destinations, fundamental skills and operations. Agents who pass the IATC test become ICEF Trained Agent Counsellors (ITACs). Each ITAC is given a unique identifying number and is listed on the ITAC Finder.

Canada Course for Education Agents (CCEA)

The Canada Course for Education Agents (CCEA) was created by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) in cooperation with ICEF and the Canadian Consortium for International Education Marketing (CCIEM). The CCEA supports professional development for agents specialising in Canada. Participants who pass the formal examination become certified Canada Course Graduates (CCG).
